SIL

What is SIL
SIL methodologies are consistent measures of the safety risks of a given process; a way to indicate the tolerable failure rate of a particular safety function.
-
Features
1.Assigns an extent to which a process can be expected to perform safely, and, in the event of a failure, an extent to which a process can be expected to fail safely.
2.Each level represents an order of magnitude of risk reduction. The higher the SIL level, the greater the impact of a failure and the lower the failure rate that is acceptable.
